The Haast eagle, now extinct, was native to the southern island of New Zealand. It is the largest eagle to have ever existed. Despite its immense size, the Haast eagle could glide through the air like a shark cuts through water. Our hardwood boards are inspired by that natural synergy between size, beauty, grace, and performance.

Our boards are made to order although sometimes we have extra in stock.
The design and planning stage is one of our favourites. We get together with you and discuss what type of board you want, the look, the types of wood, any custom features, fin/truck layout. The list goes on.
We also build wall art boards. These boards are not designed to be ridden and are often cheaper as require less shaping.
We work with a custom fiberglass printer so we can put almost any image under the resin. Perfect for any promotional work you may have.
Haast Board Co was founded by Nick Haast in 2019, a Kiwi who has traveled the world and is now settled in Austin, Texas.
Despite coming from a family of carpenters, the woodworking gene had past him, preferring to spend all his time at the beach. That was until arriving in Texas. where Nick acquired what every kiwi boy dreams of, his own shed! The woodworking bug bit slowly, it arose ,like most things, from a challenge. “You can’t build that”, “I bet I could” and before you know it, it had bitten.
It wasn’t long before these two passions combined to produce Haast Boards. Hand crafted wooden surfboards, wakesurf boards (because there are no oceans in Austin) and longboards. Unique boards that we design with you, for you.
